Is This Trip Right for You?

This moderately active program covers a fair amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, steps and slopes. The altitude in the National Parks varies and may be a consideration for those who have heart conditions or are otherwise affected by height. Hotels in National Parks provide limited amenities. Itinerary

All sightseeing and itinerary inclusions are subject to favorable weather conditions and seasonality. In those instances, and until the roads are available for travel, often unpredictable until the last moment, roads, routes and sites will be amended.

DAY 1, Saturday - Arrive in Salt Lake City
Arrive in Salt Lake City. During your free time perhaps visit Salt Lake Temple, the centerpiece of the beautifully landscaped 10-acre grounds, and the domed Tabernacle, home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Tonight, a briefing by your Tour Manager on the adventure-filled tour that lies ahead, followed by a Welcome Drink. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting at approximately 7 PM on the day of arrival. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in your destination no later than 5 PM on Day 1 of the itinerary or earlier, if possible

DAY 2, Sunday - Travel to Moab, Dead Horse Point State Park, Canyonlands National Park
Morning drive along scenic winding roads in the magnificent high desert of Southern Utah, stopping en route for leisure time and lunch. Continue to Dead Horse Point State Park for a scenic drive through one of the most photographed panoramic vistas in the world. Millions of years of geologic activity create the spectacular view that cannot be missed. Arrive in spectacular Canyonlands National Park, set in over 300,000 acres of rugged terrain, divided by the Green and Colorado Rivers. You’ll be astonished by your first sweeping spectacular views from the Green River Overlook in the Island in the Sky district that sits atop a massive 1,500-foot mesa. From this lofty viewpoint, see distant miles in any direction of Canyon Country. At Grand View Point, the southernmost spot on the high mesa, view markers for the Totem Pole, the confluence of the rivers and White Rim Road. Continue to Moab, a unique city highlighted by beautiful red rock scenery, and gateway to three national parks and the exciting waters of the Colorado River. This evening, a Welcome Dinner celebrates your arrival in Utah

DAY 3, Monday - Arches National Park
In the morning, journey to Arches National Park. Here, see the densest concentration of natural stone arches, along with hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins, and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will truly amaze you with its formations and inspire you with its beauty. See various sites, including The Windows Section and Delicate Arch Viewpoint. Return to Moab for lunch at leisure. Later, join the optional Evening Dinner & Boat Tour on the Colorado River

DAY 4, Tuesday - Travel to Durango, Million Dollar Highway
Morning drive via the mountain town of Ouray, known as the “Switzerland of America” situated in a river valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains. From here, travel on the Million Dollar Highway through the San Juan mountain range and the Uncompahgre Gorge to Silverton – one of the most breathtaking drives in the U.S. After leisure time for lunch in Silverton, board the 19th-century Narrow Gauge Railroad, named a National Historic Landmark. Arrive in Durango and transfer to the hotel for an evening at leisure in this delightful town with its historic buildings, trendy restaurants and art galleries

DAY 5, Wednesday - Mesa Verde National Park
Today explore Mesa Verde National Park, renowned for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. Mesa Verde offers a spectacular look into the lives of the ancestral Pueblo people who made this area their home. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites. See the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum, with its exhibits on the ancient Native American culture and Sun Temple, a large ceremonial structure. Return to Durango for an evening at leisure

DAY 6, Thursday - Travel to Sante Fe, Taos Pueblo
A vast change in scenery as you arrive in Taos, New Mexico. Cross the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on your drive into Taos. This community of talented artists and craftspeople were attracted here by the scenic beauty of the contrasting forests and deserts. Lunch at leisure in this eclectic town. Then, on to multistoried Taos Pueblo*, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where a unique way of life is revealed that has remained untouched for many generations. This typical Pueblo village dates back more than 1,000 years and is still inhabited by more than a hundred residents. Now a National Historic Landmark, Taos Pueblo is dedicated to preserving its ancient way of life. Free time this evening in Santa Fe to explore this vibrant city’s lively street life, boutiques and superb restaurant scene

DAY 7, Friday - Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Canyon Road
Today's highlight is a visit to the renowned Georgia O'Keeffe Museum* displaying major works by this 20th-century artist, including over 1,000 paintings, sculptures, and drawings. A tour of the city follows including a visit to the adobe Palace of the Governors that chronicles the history of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the region. After a tour of the New Mexico History Museum, lunch at leisure in town. This afternoon, depart for Canyon Road, a magical half-mile in the Historic District of Santa Fe containing more than 100 art galleries and artist studios. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your Tour Manager and newfound friends
