DAY 3, Sunday - London City Tour
Today, discover the history, pageantry and sights of the city with a half day tour of London's West End. Begin with a drive through fashionable Kensington with its elegant squares and parks. Pass Harrods store and continue to view Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and the famous Big Ben. Continue to view Buckingham Palace, the London residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Your tour ends in the heart of town to explore this afternoon at leisure. Perhaps join our in-depth optional tour of the Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral. Tonight, continue to discover London at your own pace

DAY 4, Monday - Stonehenge & Bath
Depart London to Stonehenge, one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the middle of the Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge is unique among stone circles and its construction still defies belief. The first stone was placed here 5,000 years ago, with the structure finally completed 1,400 years later. Then on to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, the setting for two of Jane Austen's novels. Admire the stunning architecture highlighted by elegant stone terraced buildings, delightful crescents and graceful squares. Visit the original 2,000-year-old Roman Baths and the Georgian Pump Room with its natural mineral water. Enjoy dinner together at the hotel

DAY 5, Tuesday - The Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, Liverpool
Drive north into the heart of England through the unique Cotswolds region, an area of ancient limestone villages, charming stone and thatch cottages. Then on to Stratford, a thriving market town on the River Avon, birthplace of England's greatest poet and playwright, William Shakespeare. View Anne Hathaway's cottage, Shakespeare's school and his birthplace on Henley Street. Afterward, spend time at leisure in this celebrated town, where the Bard's plays are still performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Then travel to lively Liverpool for a change of pace, where The Beatles were born and rose to fame. With your guide, explore the notable sights made famous in song by the Beatles - Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. View the legendary Cavern Club where the Beatles began their journey to fame and Liverpool's stunning Albert Dock complex, a reminder of Liverpool's history as a great and prosperous port

DAY 6, Wednesday - Lake District, Grasmere, Edinburgh
Today, travel along the shores of Windermere, the largest lake in England at the heart of the rolling hills of the picturesque Lake District, stopping for tea and fresh-baked scones at a local farmhouse. Continue toward the charming village of Grasmere, the 19th century home of the poet William Wordsworth. Next, cross into Scotland at the border town of Gretna Green, famous for its "runaway" weddings, and past Moffat, known for its high quality wool products. Arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, with its exquisite Georgian and Victorian architecture and winding medieval streets. During your stay, discover the city's rich heritage and historic buildings. Its Old and New Town are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites

DAY 7, Thursday - Edinburgh City Tour

View the Museum of Scotland, and 12th century Edinburgh Castle, perched high above the city on volcanic rock at the top of the Royal Mile. Perhaps, a stroll along Princes Street, the city's main thoroughfare with its many shops and cafes, or, stop at Princes Gardens, a lovely park in the center of the city

DAY 8, Friday - York City Tour
Depart Edinburgh and drive past the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, one of the four great abbeys built in Scotland's border country during the Middle Ages. Then cross into York, north-England's walled medieval city with its extraordinary cultural and historical wealth. An orientation tour takes you through the narrow, winding streets, enclosed by the 13th century Walls of York. At the heart of the city lies the breathtaking Minster, one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world, and its spectacular gardens. Explore the modern city this afternoon independently with its many museums, restaurants, cafes, and traditional pubs. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner together at the hotel in York

Travel south past Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest to the prestigious university city of Cambridge. Spend time on your own to admire the magnificent Gothic architecture of Kings College Chapel, one of the city's highlights. Then on to London, for your last night enjoying the many delights of the British Capital

Optional Tours

This afternoon the focus is on two of the most impressive monuments within London's original "Square Mile". Visit the Tower of London, a former fortress and Royal Palace that has witnessed 1000 years of history most notoriously as a prison. Now the Crown Jewels are kept here and you will have a viewing of these, as well as seeing the iconic Tower Bridge. Continue for a photo stop outside of St. Paul's Cathedral, where Charles married Diana in 1981. View the exterior architecture of Sir Christopher Wren's Dome, a masterpiece and landmark of London's skyline.
