Passengers returning from Athens on Day 9 should select flights that depart no earlier than 12:00 pm.

Land only passengers must notify our reservations department of your international flight details 95 days prior to your departure. Failure to provide this information may result in a long layover.

We will provide best ferry available on your travel dates. Reservations will be made for the earliest ferry available. We cannot confirm the exact ferry routing in advance. Local weather and wind factors can cause ferry delays and/or cancelations. When this occurs you will be advised your options locally. As weather conditions are beyond control, any costs incurred for alternate transportation, hotel and/or other out-of-pocket and related expenses will necessarily be borne by the traveler. We suggest you consult your trip insurance policy for covered benefits.

Please note the optional Half Day Santorini Wine Tour will only operate from May through September.

Arrive in Athens, the classical capital of Greece; transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the ancient wonders of this city known as the cradle of Western Civilization and the birthplace of democracy

DAY 3, Friday - Morning at Leisure, Flight to Heraklion
The morning is at leisure to explore Athens independently. At Constitution Square, perhaps you'll catch a glimpse of the colorfully-costumed Evzone guards, outfitted in the traditional Greek style. Alternatively, join the optional Athens city tour that begins with a panoramic drive through the city center. View the Panathenian Stadium and the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. Continue on to visit the Acropolis, the ancient architectural masterpiece built during the Golden Age of Athens and the new Acropolis Museum. Late afternoon departure to the airport for your flight to Heraklion. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

DAY 4, Saturday - Full Day in Crete
Spend a full day at leisure exploring Crete with its remarkable history that is evident across the island, highlighted by the ruins of the great Palace of Knossos, the ceremonial and political center of the ancient Minoan civilization and residence of the mythical King Minos. Perhaps travel to Rethymnon on Crete's north coast where the Ottomans and Venetians built mosques, Renaissance buildings and huge fortresses.

DAY 5, Sunday - Full Day in Crete
The day is yours to enjoy your free time relaxing on one of Crete's glorious sandy beaches along the vivid blue Mediterranean Sea. Linger in town and join the locals sitting in a café at the village square drinking coffee, or indulge in the distinctive Cretan cuisine renowned for its life-prolonging qualities

DAY 6, Monday - Ferry to Santorini
Today, head to the port to board the ferry to Santorini. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The island of Santorini, with its sapphire blue water, snow-white architecture and multicolored cliffs is considered one of the world's most enchanting getaways. This evening is yours to independently discover the delightful restaurants and nightlife

DAY 7, Tuesday - Full Day in Santorini
Today is free to explore this Greek paradise. Be sure to walk the streets of bustling Fira, the island's iconic capital city, a vision of pristine whitewashed buildings. Explore the shops and cafes along the narrow footpaths, and be sure to grab a seat at an outdoor cafe as you wait for the colorful sunset. Thousands of years ago, one of the most devastating volcanic eruptions in history occurred here. This event is believed to have led to the demise of the ancient Minoan culture and inspired several Greek myths. You may decide to join the optional Santorini Catamaran Cruise* to spend a relaxing day sailing in the blue waters of Santorini. Savor a freshly prepared lunch, and enjoy time at the famous Red Beach for swimming. Perhaps participate in the optional Santorini Eat & Walk Tour (PM)*. During the tour you will have the opportunity to taste Santorinian & Greek dishes, street food, sample local beer, wine & ouzo, as well as traditional sweets.

Perhaps join the optional Santorini Island & Akrotiri Tour* and enjoy the archaeological excavation of ancient Akrotiri, stop at Perivolos known as ‘the black sandy beach’ and visit Santo Wine, the largest winery on Santorini. Alternatively, join the optional Santorini Wine Tour* to explore the world of Therian volcanic wines and enjoy tastings at three family estate wineries.

Half Day Santorini Eat & Walk Tour PM Thumbnail

Begin with a guided tour of the archaeological excavation of ancient Akrotiri, a fascinating glimpse into a flourishing civilization of the Minoan Bronze Age. This impressive settlement was destroyed and preserved by a volcanic eruption around 1627 BC. Afterward, proceed to Perivolos, better known as "the black sandy beach," where you will have free time for a swim or lunch (not included). After your break, make a stop on the caldera for photos of the volcano and continue on to Prophet Ilias hill top, the highest point of the island. Next visit a local winery, where you will have the opportunity to sample three local wines and visit the wine museum. Finally, you will have free time and the chance to visit Oia Village independently (round trip transfers included). Walk through the small, white cave houses dug into the volcanic rock, and perhaps savor dinner at one of its quaint restaurants while enjoying breathtaking sea views. Walk to Oia's Old Castle from where you can experience a magnificent sunset.

Departs at approximately 11:00 am. Transfer details from your hotel will be advised locally. Approximate tour duration is 10 hours.

Entrance fee for the Akrotiri excavation is not included and must be paid for locally in cash (12 Euro per person).
