DAY 3, Saturday - Canal Cruise, Amsterdam Tour, Traditional Volendam
A delightful cruise in a glass top boat along the winding canals reveals 16th-century merchant homes, charming churches, gabled mansions and the unusual Skinny Bridge. Afterward, drive via Amsterdam's famed museum district to the grand Royal Palace on Dam Square and the Dutch National Monument, a memorial to victims of World War II. An afternoon tour of traditional Holland includes a visit to the charming fishing village of Volendam on the old Zuiderzee with its picture-perfect harbor lined with old wooden houses. Next, visit a cheese farm and see a working windmill and clog makers. Tonight, don't miss the optional dinner at a cozy Dutch restaurant followed by a night tour of illuminated Amsterdam that stops in the notorious "Red Light" district, the oldest neighborhood in Amsterdam. DAY 4, Sunday - Lowlands of Holland, Bremen's Old Town
Today will be a long but rewarding day of travel. Drive across the lowlands of Holland with its peaceful expanse of green fields to the edge of the former Zuiderzee before crossing the mighty Afsluitdijk dike that holds back the North Sea. Upon entering Germany, head to the colorful and charming Hanseatic town of Bremen on the Weser River. Enjoy an orientation of the Old Town, highlighted by the 600-year-old Town Hall with its splendid Weser Renaissance facade, recently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tonight, dinner together at a local restaurant

DAY 5, Monday - Hamburg City Tour, Arrive in Berlin
Depart Bremen this morning and continue to Hamburg, the largest port city on the Elbe River. A major center of international trade, Hamburg's dynamic port has brought great wealth to the city and World Heritage recognition by UNESCO. During your tour, view Alster Lake in the heart of the city, dotted with elegant waterside villas and the St. Pauli Piers near the colorful Fischmarkt. On to St. Michael's Church, Germany's finest baroque-style ecclesiastical building bearing the largest clock tower in Germany, and the impressive Town Hall built in the early 1800s. Then depart Hamburg and drive east, crossing the former "Iron Curtain" to Berlin, Germany's fabulous capital city, an international mecca for art, culture, and fashion. Time to settle in at your hotel before joining the optional excursion to a "Berlin Style" dinner party with traditional dishes, drinks and live music, followed by a scenic drive through the highlights of Berlin

DAY 6, Tuesday - Berlin's Famous Landmarks
History comes to life during your tour of Berlin today, viewing landmarks of the former East and West German sections including the triumphant Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of the reunification, the glass-domed Reichstag Building and Checkpoint Charlie, a symbol of the formerly divided city. Drive along lively Unter den Linden Boulevard past the grand State Opera House and the imposing Cathedral. See a remaining section of the wall and the Holocaust Memorial. After the tour you will have time at leisure to perhaps visit the district of Kurfürstendamm, the most elegant boulevard in Berlin for strolling, shopping and relaxing at a street side café, or you may wish to participate in an optional tour to nearby Potsdam, the historic "City of Palaces" where Truman, Stalin, and Churchill met to negotiate terms for the end of WWII. DAY 7, Wednesday - Bingen on the Rhine
Today will be a long but rewarding day of travel. A drive from Berlin takes you into the picturesque heartland of Germany. Arrive in the delightful town of Bingen, strategically located at the confluence of the Nahe and Rhine Rivers, founded by the Romans in 11 BC. Steeped in 2,000 years of legends and folklore, this riverside town is the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. This evening, dinner together at your hotel in Bingen

DAY 8, Thursday - Rhine River Cruise, Heidelberg
A morning cruise on the Rhine offers spectacular vistas of hilltop castles, terraced vineyards and villages of timber-framed houses. Pass the mighty Lorelei rock that rises vertically from the waters named for the siren that bewitched passing sailors. On to romantic Heidelberg, in a striking setting between the Neckar River and the foothills of the Odenwald forest, home of the oldest university in Germany. View the imposing Heidelberg Castle, perched high above the town, and enjoy time to stroll through the charming lanes past shops and cafes in the historic center. DAY 9, Friday - Moselle Valley, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
The day begins with a visit to ancient Koblenz in central Germany, gateway to the terraced vineyards and castles of the Rhine Gorge. In the city center, view the monumental statue of Kaiser Willhelm marking the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. On to the fairy-tale town of Cochem, in the most romantic part of the valley, dramatically dominated by medieval Reichsburg Castle. The town with its narrow streets and restored half-timber houses is indeed a step back in time. After a stop to taste the local fruity wines, continue to the tiny Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. At the entrance to the city, pause to pay respects at the U.S. Military Cemetery from WWII where over 5,000 American soldiers and General Patton are laid to rest. Enjoy a short orientation tour of the city before arriving at the hotel in time for dinner

DAY 10, Saturday - Memorial at Bastogne, Tour Brussels

Linger at the poignant memorial in the form of a five-pointed American star, honoring the memory of fallen soldiers, and view the restored Sherman Tank monument. Depart for Brussels where you will enjoy a tour with views of the Atomium and Palace of Justice. Visit the 17th-century Grand Place with its decorated guild houses, and stroll the city center to view the famous Mannekin Pis fountain. DAY 11, Sunday - Full Day in Brussels
A full day to explore Brussels on your own. Or, you may wish to participate in the full day optional tour to Bruges, home to some of Europe's best preserved medieval buildings. On to the vivacious Left Bank, where artists, philosophers and writers once flourished in the artistic community at Montparnasse. View the imposing Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter, home to many of France's higher education establishments. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure to enjoy the endless delights of this romantic city.
