Optional Tours

The day begins at Bucharest's Arch of Triumph, an impressive replica of the French Arc de Triomphe, built to commemorate the bravery of Romanian soldiers who fought in WWI. Then, as you travel along Calea Victoriei (Victory Avenue), the city's oldest and most fashionable street, gaze at some of the most stunning architecture, including the splendid National Museum George Enescu housed in the Cantacuzino Palace, one of the most beautiful art nouveaux buildings in Bucharest. Next, at historical Revolution Square, learn how the last Communist dictator in Eastern Europe was overthrown. Conclude the tour with a visit to the gigantic Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon) with over 3,000 rooms.

Travel to the village of Bran and immerse yourself in the legends of Transylvania with a visit to Bran Castle, made famous by Bram Stoker's novel as the residence of the sinister vampire, Count Dracula. Tour the eerie castle and wander through the secret stairways and Gothic chambers. Continue toward Bucharest, stopping at the mountain resort of Sinaia for a visit to the Neo-Renaissance Peles Castle, built as the summer residence of King Carol I. Afterwards, visit the beautiful 17th century Sinaia Monastery, named after the great Saint Catherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt.

Visit the imposing Kalemegdan Fortress dramatically situated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and the lovely park surrounding it. Continue to the Republic Square and view the National Theatre, National Museum and the Prince Mihail monument. Stroll along Knez Mihajlova street, the main pedestrian and shopping zone in the city. Afterwards, arrive at the Vracar Plateau to view the Saint Sava Temple, the largest Orthodox Church in the city. Conclude the tour with a visit to Tito’s memorial before returning to your hotel.

Today, explore the Northern Serbian province of Vojvodina on the Danube River with its unique atmosphere and Austro-Hungarian heritage. Visit the town of Sremski Karlovci, which represents the place of preservation of Serbian culture in the 18th and 19th centuries. The town is famous for its numerous wine cellars, where tradition of winemaking stretches back through generations. Enjoy wine tastings in one of the wine cellars. After lunch, continue to Novi Sad, located on the banks of the Danube River with the beautiful Petrovaradin Fortress, the second biggest fortress in Europe.
