Optional Tours

This morning, enjoy a comprehensive tour of downtown Singapore. Start out by driving around the Civic District, passing by the historic Parliament House and City Hall. Stop at Merlion Park, home to the mythical Merlion statue, to take in the views of Marina Bay. Next, pay a visit to Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of Singapore’s older Buddhist-Taoist temples, followed by a stop at a local handicraft center to observe artisans at work up-close. Then, visit the beautiful and expansive display of 60,000 orchid plants at the National Orchid Garden located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The morning’s tour will finish up with a stop at the streets of Little India where the scents of jasmine and spices perfume the air.

Embark on a tour of Denpasar, Bali's largest city. Begin with a visit to the art center at Abian Kapas, a lovely traditional Balinese-style structure, set amidst beautiful gardens. The center features displays of Balinese art; modern and classical paintings and wooden sculptures. Continue on to the Bali Museum, also known as Museum Negeri Propinsi Bali, strategically located in the heart of Denpasar City. Built in traditional Balinese royal style, it comprises several buildings and pavilions. The museum features over 10,000 exhibits of prehistoric pieces, traditional artifacts, ceremonial objects and rich displays of textiles. Afterwards, visit a traditional market, where locals head to sell and bargain for everything from food to home goods. View colorful stalls, displaying everything from fruit and vegetables to meat, fish and aromatic spices.

Be mesmerized by the captivating rhythm of the dramatic Kecak (monkey) dance taken from the mythological tale of the Hindu epic Ramayana, among other dance performances.

Drive to Batubulan village to attend a Barong and Keris dance performance. Then visit the art and handicraft villages of Celuk, Batuan, Mas and Ubud, to witness gold and silver work, hand weaving woodcarving and painting. Proceed to Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), a Hindu meditation center dating back to the 11th Century, Continue to Tampak Siring to see the holy spring water temple Tirta Empul. Next on to view the magnificent Panorama of the still active Mt. Batur volcano and Lake Batur. Return to the hotel stopping at a couple points of interest along the way.

Visit the mother Temple of Bali high upon the slope of Mt. Agung. Enroute, stop at Klungkung to see the ancient Kertha Gosha Court House. A side trip will be made to Goa Lawah (Bat Cave)-a temple built in front of a cave inhabited by thousand of bats and snakes. Continue with a visit to Tenganan Village to see the original, pre-Hindus Bali peoples. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.
