Optional Tours

Embark on a tour of Denpasar, Bali's largest city. Begin with a visit to the art center at Abian Kapas, a lovely traditional Balinese-style structure, set amidst beautiful gardens. The center features displays of Balinese art; modern and classical paintings and wooden sculptures. Continue on to the Bali Museum, also known as Museum Negeri Propinsi Bali, strategically located in the heart of Denpasar City. Built in traditional Balinese royal style, it comprises several buildings and pavilions. The museum features over 10,000 exhibits of prehistoric pieces, traditional artifacts, ceremonial objects and rich displays of textiles. Afterwards, visit a traditional market, where locals head to sell and bargain for everything from food to home goods. View colorful stalls, displaying everything from fruit and vegetables to meat, fish and aromatic spices.

Drive to Batubulan, a historic village close to Denpasar, world famous for its artistic blessing dance of Barong. Immerse yourself in Indonesia's cultural heritage during an evening of traditional dancing with a breathtaking mix of traditional music and enchanting tales. Be mesmerized by the captivating rhythm of the dramatic Kecak (monkey) dance taken from the mythological tale of the Hindu epic Ramayana, among other dance performances.

Evening Traditional Dance Performance 5:00 PM Thumbnail

Today, visit the art and handicraft villages of Celuk, Batuan, Mas and Ubud, to witness gold and silver work, hand weaving, woodcarving and painting. Proceed to Goa Gajah (or Elephant Cave), a spiritual place of meditation dating back to the 11th century. View the rock wall carvings, the relic-filled courtyard, a central meditation cave, bathing pools and fountains. Continue on to the small village of Tampak Siring, to view the Tirta Empul Temple famous for its holy spring water and Gunung Kawi, the most impressive ancient site in Bali. Next, head to Kintamani to see the magnificent panorama of the still active Mt. Batur volcano and Lake Batur. Afternoon drive to the eastern part of Bali to visit the Besakih Temple complex, situated on the slope of Mt Agung, regarded as the largest, most important and holiest temple of Hinduism in Bali.

Visit the mother Temple of Bali high upon the slope of Mt. Agung. Enroute, stop at Klungkung to see the ancient Kertha Gosha Court House. A side trip will be made to Goa Lawah (Bat Cave)-a temple built in front of a cave inhabited by thousand of bats and snakes. Continue with a visit to Tenganan Village to see the original, pre-Hindus Bali peoples. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.
