    DAY 1, Sunday - Depart the USA/Guayaquil
    Depart the USA for Ecuador. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure
    Overnight: Guayaquil

    DAY 2, Monday - Afternoon on Santa Cruz Island
    This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. Arrive at Baltra Island, and then cross the Itabaca Channel to the island of Santa Cruz. Upon arrival, transfer by private bus to the Aventura Lodge. In the afternoon, head to Los Gemelos (Spanish for “The Twins”), two enormous collapsed lava chambers formed thousands of years ago. Keep an eye open for Darwin finches, vermillion flycatchers, and short-eared owls. Next on your tour is a visit to a 600-acre private reserve for the famous giant Galapagos tortoises. Here you can watch the tortoises roam freely and learn about these amazing animals and the efforts being made to save them. Continuing on your journey, a short ride takes you to explore one of the islands unique lava tunnels. This remnant of long gone lava flows has 20 foot high ceilings and stretches on for nearly 1350 feet. Before returning to your lodge, stop at the Red Mangrove Dive Resort for a snorkeling lesson to prepare you for the opportunities during your trip to explore the marine wonders of the Galapagos

    DAY 3, Tuesday - Sail to Isabela Island
    Enjoy an adventure-packed morning as you head for the Itabaca Channel for an introduction to sea kayaking. After learning the basic techniques, a certified specialist will guide you along the shore of northern Santa Cruz as you explore the channel. As you paddle along, enjoy the beautiful scenery. The cliffs here are home to many sea birds including blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, and brown pelicans. There will be opportunities to snorkel in the channel, where sea lions, green sea turtles, and numerous tropical fish will often share the water. After working up an appetite, return to the lodge for lunch! In the afternoon, a two hour boat trip will transfer you to Isabela Island. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and enjoy a welcome drink and snacks while your naturalist guides discuss the culture and history of the islands. The remainder of the day is at leisure

    DAY 4, Wednesday - Full Day on Isabela Island
    This morning, depart by boat for “Los Tuneles”. Along the way, the boat will pause at “Roca Union” for the opportunity to see the many species that gather here, including blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea lions, and occasionally fur seals. Upon arrival at “Los Tuneles”, marvel at the labyrinth of lava arches that stretch over the water. A panga ride around the site will take you to your first spot for snorkeling. The lava arches provide an excellent reef-like environment where you may encounter rays, sea turtles, Galapagos penguins, and schools of tropical fish. Next you will move on to another spot among the tunnels to further explore this amazing site. Return to the lodge for a well deserved lunch. After lunch, visit the Galapagos National Park Isabela Breeding Station, where you will learn about the different species of Galapagos tortoises found on the islands, as well as the life cycle of these amazing creatures, from newborn hatchlings to the centenarians that call the station home. Next, hike along the nearby boardwalk through the wetlands of Isabela Island. Flamingos and many species of seabirds are often seen here. Prior to returning to the lodge, visit popular Playa del Amor, or Love Beach, and walk along the mangrove lined sand

    DAY 5, Thursday - Sierra Negra Volcano
    This morning's outing takes you to Sierra Negra Volcano. A short hike up the slope leads you to the caldera, or large volcanic crater, of Sierra Negra where breathtaking views await. The tour will stop for a rest and light snack. The adventurous have the option to continue on a more challenging hour-ling hike to Volcan Chico, where steam and gas vents are abundant and additional spectacular views can be found. After a morning of hiking, enjoy lunch at Camp Duro. This beautiful organic farm prepares meals with locally grown fruits and vegetables. Following lunch, you can enjoy a stroll among the fruit treas or relax in a hammock. You can visit the giant tortoises that the farm cares for in collaboration with the Galapagos National Park. After your visit to Camp Duro, return to your lodge. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore Isabela Island on your own, or you can join an excursion to the Concha de Perla site and snorkel among the abundant inhabitants of the bay, which often include sea lions and green turtles

    DAY 6, Friday - Return to Santa Cruz
    After breakfast, depart by boat for a tour of Las Tintoreras islet and bay. Along the way search for blue-footed boobies and Galapagos penguins gathered among the rocks. After docking, join a hike through an otherworldly jagged lava field, home to large colonies of marine iguanas and sea lions. Following your hike, you can snorkel in the warm waters of the bay for an up-close look at marine life. Look for sea lions, sea turtles, white-tipped reef sharks, and the tangled underwater forest of mangrove roots. Return to the lodge for lunch and afterward depart for the two hour boat transfer back to Santa Cruz Island. Upon arrival, check back into the Aventura Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Charles Darwin Research Station, a specialized breeding and rearing center for the endangered Galapagos Giant Tortoise. The station is a working branch of the international, non-profit Charles Darwin Foundation which works to protect and maintain the Galapagos' precious ecosystems. Here you will learn about the remarkably successful breeding program and get to see these amazing animals up close

    DAY 7, Saturday - Fly to Quito
    After breakfast, transfer to the airport in Baltra for your flight to Quito. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the balance of the day is at leisure. The Quito airport is approximately a 1-2 hour drive from the city

    DAY 8, Sunday - Historic Quito Tour
    Depart from your hotel in the morning to begin your tour of historic Quito. Start by visiting the Plaza Grande, where a large monument dedicated to the independence fighters from 1809 resides. Admire the numerous historic buildings such as the Carondelet Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and the Municipal Palace, all of which reside around the plaza. Continue on to visit the metropolitan Cultural Center to gain a new appreciation for Ecuadorian culture and its rich history. Finally, visit the Compania of Jesus Church and the San Francisco Church, the former is one of UNESCO's 100 most important World Heritage Site Monuments in the world. Balance of the day at leisure
