    DAY 1, Wednesday - Depart the USA
    Depart the USA for Italy. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey

    DAY 2, Thursday - Arrive in Rome and Drive to Umbria
    Arrive in Rome and pick up your vehicle at the airport. Drive to your hotel in the Umbria region and enjoy the balance of the day at leisure. While driving, take time to appreciate the stunning vistas of Umbria

    DAY 3, Friday - Orvieto
    Spend a full day at leisure or explore Orvieto, one of the most dramatic cities in Europe. Orvieto is impressively situated on a tufa stone, complimented by city walls that rise from the steep cliffs which naturally defend the city. Visit the architectural masterpiece, Pozzo di San Patrizio. Commissioned by Pope Clement VII to ensure an abundant supply of water during sieges, the well took ten years to complete. Another important site to visit is the Orvieto Cathedral. Noted as one of the most impressive examples of Medieval architecture in Italy, the Cathedral possesses an intricate facade, huge bronze doors, golden mosaics, and numerous beautiful frescoes. The most important feature of the Cathedral is the Chapel of San Brizio, with its famous frescoes by Signorelli that inspired Michelangelo's works in the Sistine Chapel

    DAY 4, Saturday - Assisi
    Spend a full day at leisure in Perugia or drive to Assisi to wander the footsteps of Saint Francis. The town of Assisi is one of Italy's most important tourist destinations. No visit to Umbria would be complete without seeing the Basilica of Saint Francesco d'Assisi, a World Heritage Site. The Basilica, started in 1228, is an important site for millions of pilgrims that seek to follow Francis's devotion. In addition to Assisi's sacred shrines, the city offers Roman ruins, winding Medieval streets, and numerous works of art

    DAY 5, Sunday - Spoleto
    Spend a full day at leisure in Perugia or drive to Spoleto to see Roman ruins and Romanesque churches. The Roman colony of Spoleto dates back to 241 BC. Among the Roman ruins are a theater that was discovered under the ruins of a Medieval church and the Ponte Sanguinario, which was used to send persecuted citizens to the nearby amphitheater. The majestic Albornozian Castle, built from stones of the Roman amphitheater, rises above the cityscape with its six sturdy towers. The castle, on which construction began in 1359, was converted into a jail in 1800. Begun in the twelfth century, Spoleto's Duomo boasts an apse with frescoes by Filippo Lippi

    DAY 6, Monday - Todi
    Spend a full day at leisure in Perugia or drive to Todi to experience four millennia of history. According to legend Todi was founded in 1955 BC by Hercules. The town of Todi has been inhabited by Umbrians, Etruscans, and Romans. Todi has become famous for its historic monuments, medieval atmosphere, and the unique beauty of its countryside. The city's Gothic cathedral was built on the ruins of a temple dedicated the god Apollo. The cathedral is noted for its squarish facade and great rose-window which was added in 1513

    DAY 7, Tuesday - Gubbio
    Spend a full day at leisure in Perugia or drive to Gubbio, home to the second largest Standing Roman Theater. The Roman Theater, built more than 2,000 years ago from square blocks of limestone, is still in use today. In Gubbio, you can wander the narrow streets among houses that date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. Gubbio is home to one the greatest archaeological finds in Italy, the Eugubine Tablets. The tablets, discovered in the 15th century, are seven bronze sheets written in the extinct Umbrian language, using both Latin and Etruscan alphabets. The tablets describe religious beliefs, local politics, and daily life of Gubbioans more than 2200 years ago
