Next, we drive northwards through the modern metropolis of Tel Aviv and onto the ruins of Caesarea Maritima, which was the seat of government of the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate. The next stop is on Mt. Carmel to visit the "Place of Sacrifice" where the Prophet Elijah had an encounter with the Priests of Baal (1 Kings 18:17-40). Now drive to the town of Nazareth, a town in the hill country of Galilee where Jesus grew to manhood (Matt. 2:23), and visit the Basilica of the Annunciation. Lunch is taken en route. DAY 5, Tuesday - Yardenit Baptismal Site, Beit Alfa, Beit Shean
Another spiritually enriching day begins at the headwaters of the Jordan River, the Yardenit, where Christian visitors come to renew their faith with a traditional Baptism. The day continues with arrival at the Beit Alfa Synagogue National Park in the nearby kibbutz of Heftziba. Here you will see a 6th century Byzantine-era synagogue, with a mosaic floor depicting the lunar Hebrew months as they correspond to the signs of the zodiac. It is then a short ride to visit the remains of Beit Shean, a city mentioned in the Bible, later a Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine city which was destroyed by an earthquake in 749AD. It was here that the Philistines hung the bodies of Saul and his sons on the walls of Beit-Shean (1 Sam 31:10-12). Touring resumes south through the Jordan Valley passing by the ancient city of Jericho en route to the Holy City of Jerusalem where dinner will be served at the hotel

DAY 6, Wednesday - Mt. of Olives, Gethsemane, Mt. Zion, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden Tomb
This morning, travel a short distance to the Mount of Olives with its panoramic view of the entire Old City. Walking down the Mount of Olives into the Garden of Gethsemane brings you to a tranquil spot in the Garden among olive trees dating back to the time of Jesus. Here time will allow for personal reflection and prayer before arriving atop Mt. Zion where a visit is planned to the Upper Room, traditional location of the Last Supper and later, Caiaphas' House. Touring resumes in the Old City with a walk along the Via Dolorosa Road of Sorrow where one is reminded of His suffering before reaching the final station of the Cross at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Free time will be given to wander and shop among the many shops and stalls in the colorful Arab Bazaar. The day concludes just outside the city walls at the Garden Tomb, first identified in 1849. Here a rock formation resembles a skull (Golgotha), and the site accords with the biblical data of the area where Jesus was buried

The morning tour will conclude with a visit to Yad Vashem, a museum built in memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis during World War II. This afternoon, take a short drive to Bethlehem (switch buses at check point) to visit the Church of the Nativity, built over the cave of Christ's birth, as well as Shepherd's Field and plains of Boaz.
