DAY 1 - Depart for France
Depart for France. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey

DAY 2 - Arrive in Lyon
Arrive and transfer to the port. Embarkation begins at 4 pm. Tonight, enjoy a gala welcome cocktail and dinner on board as you set sail for Macon

DAY 3 - Full Day in Macon
This morning arrive to Macon, best known for its pastel buildings and local wine making traditions. Discover this southern Burgundy city with its Mediterranean charm independently or perhaps join the optional tour which explores the region's many vineyards. This afternoon there is an opportunity for another optional tour to the Cluny Abbey in Burgundy, which once served as the center of the major monastic movement in the Middle Ages. Its church was the largest Christian building in the world until St. Peter's Basilica was rebuilt in Rome in the 16th century. Set sail this evening for Chalon sur Saone at 9:30 pm

DAY 4 - Morning in Chalon sur Saone
Arrive to Chalon sur Saone at 8:00 am. The city is known as the birthplace of photography and is home to a museum with over 2 million photographs and camera equipment from old and modern times. Perhaps, enjoy a walk to St. Vincent’s Cathedral or some free time to sit and relax at a café in the city square. The ship will depart at 2:30 pm and make a brief stop in Tournus to pick up passengers returning from the optional tours this afternoon

DAY 5 - Morning in Lyon
Lyon not only marks the meeting of the Saone and Rhône Rivers, but it is also the gastronomic capital of France. This morning is free to explore the cobbled streets and soak in the Renaissance charm of this 2000 year old city which is designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk by the Cathderal of St. John, the National Opera House or perhaps visit the fine arts museum which is one of the largest galleries in France. At noon set sail for Avignon

DAY 6 - Full Day in Avignon
Enjoy a walking tour of Avignon, known as the "City of Popes," named for the seven popes reigned there during the 1300s. Stroll through the historic city center and stop at the picturesque Pont d' Avignon, a 12th century bridge that once spanned the Rhone river. Arrive to the lavish Palais des Papes (Palace of Popes), once considered the center of the Christian world during the 14th century. The ship will remain docked in Avignon this evening

DAY 7 - Afternoon in Arles
At 10:00 am set sail and arrive just after lunch to Arles. Enjoy a walking tour of this exquisite city, inspiration for many of Van Gogh's paintings. Stop at the impressive Roman and Romanesque monuments completed in the 15th century, named UNESCO World Heritage sites. Continue on to the Roman theatre, the Obelisk of Arles, the Thermes of Constantine and more. This evening, set sail at 10:00 pm

DAY 8 - Daylight Sailing

    Cluny Abbey Tour

    Visit the Abbey of Cluny in Burgundy, which once served as the center of the major monastic movement in the Middle Ages. Its church was the largest Christian building in the world until St. Peter's Basilica was rebuilt in Rome in the 16th century. Although most of the great Abbey of Cluny stands in ruins, the size and glory of the abbey at its zenith can easily be imagined. Today, one transept of the 12th-century abbey church remains, along with the 15th-century abbots' residences and the 18th-century convent buildings.

Today the Hôtel Dieu's establishments include its museum, three courtyards, outbuildings, 15th century bastion and large cellars. The beauty of the interiors is equal to that of the exterior. The Polyptych of The Last Judgment, a master work by the Flemish painter Rogier Van Der Weyden has been particularly well preserved. End your tour with free time to explore the market square.
